The NECA TMNT figures are out, and I finally got them. Giddy as a schoolgirl was I when they arrived, as I didn’t even know they shipped. I pre-ordered them 3-4 months back when they first went on sale online, and then didn’t even remember they were coming out this month. Oh boy, this is the definition of a pleasant surprise!

FYI - this review will be covering the set of figures that come with the display bases and full extra accessories, vs the boxed set and the tubed figures (which don’t come with the bases, extra hands etc). Also, since all the figures are essentially the same other than head and accessories, the Leonardo review will be the most in-depth, with the rest just showing off the differences.

In package these all look great, although I’ve complained about the plastic shell business in the other reviews, if you were to keep these MISB they’d be awesome on any shelf, desk, whatever. Although if you did keep them MISB, that’d sort of make you a jerk, since toys are meant to be opened and played with, so open them up and don’t be a jerk.

Raphael comes with, as do all the turtles, a ton of accessories. First off his sai’s, extra hands with climbing spikes, his sidewalk stand/diorama with a giant lamp-pole, 3 throwing blades, and a small un-mutated baby Raph. How cute.

Raphael comes with the most detailed and accessorized base of all the guys, the lamp-post comes in 3 pieces as well as the concrete sidewalk it’s set upon. The lamp-post is giant too, from top to bottom it’s like 11 inches tall, although as I stated in another review the scale issues here would make the turtles around 8 feet tall if they were real, yeah?

As for actual toy height, each of the turtles is about 5 and a half inches tall. They are all essentially the same figure, other than headsculpts and accessories. Raphael here though actually has different hands than the other 3 guys, molded in such a way with his fingers spread further apart that allows him to hold the sai’s in a more accurate manner than just by the handles. It gives off a real Wolverine vibe, which is doubly fierce if you look at the scowl and gritted, bared teeth. Better watch out, Raphael don’t play man.

As I’ve pointed out in other reviews, Leonardo is the only figure in the line that has a pouch/sheath on his belt to allow for weapons storage. Mikey and Raph however can slip their gear into their belts, and Raph actually looks pretty cool when you do. All in all, great figure from a great line, and they really captured the ferocity and anger from Raphael about as perfect as you can get.

Is it ok for me to say I love these toys?
